In times of great uncertainty, of challenge and adversity, like our ancestors upon their voyaging waka we look to our navigator, the wayfarer. Observant of the environment, learned and experienced, with great knowledge of the past and great foresight into the future, the navigator, when it may seem imperceivable to others, can take bearing and communicate the correct course to reach our destination.

Inspired by ‘Jack Te Kapene Thatcher’, this blanket pays homage to our navigators, those visionaries that can see the opportunities or the destination in times of adversity and lead the people to reach it.

Te Kāpene, our contemporary take on tradition, has been fashioned together in the Jacquard weave structure. Made using 100% New Zealand Lambswool, 42 threads per square cm and 5 different weave structures it features a blanket stitch edge. It has gone through a scouring process and has a washed finish with a contrasting reversible pattern for twice the enjoyment.  Charcoal, rice, cobalt and ash are the colours of the 4 yarns used.

Wool blankets are among the most durable and desirable of all blankets. They're soft and warm, and are very difficult to stain or damage. Wool blankets are also very easy to care for and you don’t need to wash them often, in fact, it’s best to wash them sparingly and some guidelines recommend washing wool blankets once every three months.

Check out our product care page for further information on how to care for your blanket.
