Reclaiming Measurement, Redefining Impact
At Noa, our role has always been about more than creating blankets. We exist to honour and protect our Māori knowledge systems, stories and values. We believe true impact is relational. It doesn’t always fit inside a spreadsheet - but it can be felt, seen, and passed down.
So when the opportunity to collaborate with Social Value Aotearoa (SVA) emerged, we didn’t hesitate. No Blanket Value sits at the intersection of what we create and what we care deeply about. At its heart is a symbolic object — our blanket — designed to provoke reflection and invite action. A challenge to reject blanket measurement and lead in ways that truly strengthen our communities.
The result is No Blanket Value - a powerful call to action challenging Aotearoa’s business and community leaders to rethink how we define and measure impact.
Each year, billions are invested in social programmes across Aotearoa. But without a shared standard for measuring outcomes, funding often flows to what’s easiest to count - not what truly transforms lives. As a result, essential work is overlooked, effective organisations remain underfunded and the systems designed to create change struggle to shift the patterns they were built to break.
SVA exists to change that. As the only accredited affiliate of Social Value International, they support funders, providers and policymakers to measure what matters - using frameworks that balance global rigour with cultural depth. By combining Social Return on Investment (SROI) tools with narrative methods and mātauranga Māori, SVA translates complex, often intangible outcomes into a language funders can understand - without losing the richness of Indigenous worldviews or relational truths.
To embody this kaupapa, we created a special edition blanket. Not for sale but as a taonga that challenges business-as-usual and honours the human outcomes too often left unmeasured: confidence, belonging, stability, respect.
Each blanket is accompanied by a ledger - a growing record of those who commit to leading differently.
This is design as disruption. A call to care, connection and accountability. A campaign that speaks directly to who we are - and what we stand for.
